Based in Souderton, PA we are currently seeking a Controller. Craft-Bilt is a 70+ year old family-owned business. As a small business, with one location and 75 employees, the position of Controller is "hands on" with a support staff of two.  We recognize our employees as our greatest asset and we provide them with a great place to work! We manufacture a number of product lines for the residential remodeling industry such as retractable fabric awnings, patio rooms, sunrooms, conservatories, replacement and new construction windows and aluminum decking.

The primary purpose of this position is to direct the financial affairs of the organization and prepares financial analyses of operations, including interim and final financial statements with supporting schedules, for the guidance of management. The Controller is responsible for the company's financial plans and policies, its accounting practices, the conduct of its relationships with lending institutions and the financial community, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports.  The position involves supervision over general accounting, property accounting, internal auditing, cost accounting, and budgetary controls.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • This position requires that work is conducted at our business location; little or no telecommuting available.
  • Development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization.
  • Responsible for evaluating the performance of personnel in the Accounting Department. This individual recommends training requirements, has the duty to keep the staff at the highest level of skill necessary to meet company needs and objectives, and may recommend that personnel be hired or removed from the Department.
  • Compares performance with operating plans and standards. Provides reports and interprets the results of operations to all levels of management.   This includes the formulation of accounting policies, the preparation of financial statements and operating data, the coordination of systems and procedures, and special reports as required.
  • Monitors credit and collection applications. Approves terms above a predetermined dollar amount.
  • Coordinates and directs the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, institutes and maintains other planning and control procedures, and analyses and reports variances.  
  • Is responsible for tax planning and compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes.
  • Administration of 401(k) plan and responsible for annual reporting requirements under the 401(k) plan outside administration.
  • Performs other duties as necessitated by management.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in Accounting and CPA (preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using computer-based programs, specifically Microsoft Office products
  • Possesses excellent communication, telephone, and organizational skills, being able to interact well with customers, management, administration, and manufacturing, while satisfactorily completing multiple assignments in a timely fashion.
  • Possesses exceptional judgment, initiative, discretion, tact, and personality in all areas of responsibility while maintaining high levels of confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of EDP-oriented accounting systems, prefer five or more years' experience in public accounting or private industry.
