The primary purpose of this position is the coordination of all inbound and outbound freight. The Shipping Clerk is responsible to verify ship date, method and location using such in house tools as Made2Manage and SalesLogix while relying on input from customer service, shipping and scheduling. Along with generating and updating the daily "Craft-Bilt" truck schedule the clerk will procure quotes from freight vendors to secure the most optimum rate and service, set up multiple drop tractor trailer shipments and single drop LTL shipments. The Shipping Clerk will also be asked to work closely with purchasing to procure quotes and set up freight for inbound materials.


  • This position requires that work is conducted at our business location; little or no telecommuting available.
  • Acts as primary resource for the scheduling of all inbound and outbound freight.
  • Versed in logistics scheduling using M2M, SalesLogix and other resources.
  • Works in conjunction with customer service, purchasing, shipping and scheduling to insure that on time delivery meets or exceeds customer expectations.
  • Maintains a master shipping schedule to track freight volume and accuracy.
  • Advises appropriate parties when shipments are behind schedule.
  • Confers with supervisors for input on how to resolve more complex difficulties.
  • Manages, maintains and generates reports pertaining to freight efficiencies and deficiencies.
  • Works as part of a team to meet company goals.
  • Assists in training new Associates as directed and supervised by management.
  • Follows company safety policies and procedures.
  • Wears the required personal protective equipment (PPE) necessary for each job task if necessary per the PPE Assessment.
  • Performs other duties as necessitated by management.


  • College Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in math, reading, and writing.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using computer-based programs, specifically Microsoft Office products and CRM software (Saleslogix or an equivalent).
  • Possesses excellent communication, telephone, and organizational skills, being able to interact well with customers, management, administration, and manufacturing, while satisfactorily completing multiple assignments in a timely fashion.
  • Possesses exceptional judgment, initiative, discretion, tact, and personality in all areas of responsibility while maintaining high levels of confidentiality.

  • Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed.
